Commentary
Onto their batting now, Bangladesh really need to dig in. They wicket is a good one to bat on but they'll need to show a lot of application. South Africa on the other hand, will hope to build pressure by bowling the right lines and lengths and also hope the wicket wears off and they do get some assistance. Stay tuned for the reply.
For Bangladesh, it was hard work on a placid wicket! Their bowlers hardly got any assistance. The thing they'll be disappointed with is the ease they let the visitors score. Taijul Islam though yet again impressed with a five-fer but for the others, it was an effort to forget.
End of a marathon batting effort from South Africa! They won the toss, elected to bat and the batters responded in emphatic fashion. Three batters scored tons. Tony, Stubbs and Mulder. There were fifties from David Bedingham and Senuran Muthusamy too and that's what helped them to pile up a massive score on the board.

Najmul Hossain Shanto says South Africa played really well but they were quite poor. Stated there's a lot to improve and they need to be a lot more consistent with the ball. South Africa did enforce that and it took them just over a session to take the 10 wickets again. This time it was the two spinners. They took 9 between them and have given South Africa and brilliant series win.
After declaring, their bowlers ran through the Bangladesh batting line-up. It was Rabada who was at his best. At one stage, Bangladesh were 8 down for below 50 and had it not been for Mominul, they would not have crossed the 100-run mark. They did manage to do so but were far behind the mark they needed to avoid a follow-on.

He is played a vital innings and needs to continue and also needs able support from Islam who has done well so far. South Africa on the other hand, started with a bang. Centuries from De Zorzi and Stubbs followed by maiden Test century from Mulder helped South Africa post a mammoth first innings total. Bangladesh in reply, had to play a small passage with the bat and it didn’t help them as their top four in a flash against prime South African bowlers. Onto their batting now, Bangladesh really need to dig in. They wicket is a good one to bat on but they'll need to show a lot of application. South Africa on the other hand, will hope to build pressure by bowling the right lines and lengths and also hope the wicket wears off and they do get some assistance. Stay tuned for the reply.
For Bangladesh, it was hard work on a placid wicket! Their bowlers hardly got any assistance. The thing they'll be disappointed with is the ease they let the visitors score. Taijul Islam though yet again impressed with a five-fer but for the others, it was an effort to forget.
End of a marathon batting effort from South Africa! They won the toss, elected to bat and the batters responded in emphatic fashion. Three batters scored tons. Tony, Stubbs and Mulder. There were fifties from David Bedingham and Senuran Muthusamy too and that's what helped them to pile up a massive score on the board.

Ryan Rickelton and Wiaan Mulder though have made sure they do not lose any more wickets and have started to build another partnership. A tale of two halves for South Africa - In the first hour they bossed it. Tony de Zorzi and David Bedingham started Day 2 well and scored plenty of runs. Tony de Zorzi brought up his 150 while David Bedingham scored his third Test half century. Hello and welcome to the action of Day 2 between Bangladesh and South Africa. It was a run feast on Day 1 as the Proteas after winning the toss posted a massive total thanks to the double century partnership between Stubbs and De Zorzi. The latter was main stay right from the start. He got used to the pitch and later comfortably scored a brilliant century. Still unbeaten, he was well supported by Stubbs alongside who scored a century as well. Bangladesh on the other hand had to toil hard and are expected to ball all day again as South Africa have 8 wickets in hand. The pitch has started to open up and we could see the spinners get more purchase. Can Bangladesh create pressure in the first session? Let’s find out. Stay tuned.

For the Bangladesh bowlers, it was hard work, there was not a lot of assistance from the surface as well but the bowling wasn't at its best too. There were far too many boundary balls and the hosts just couldn't build pressure as they let South Africa score freely. They'll need wickets in heaps on Day 2 or it will be difficult for them to get back into the game. Will we see the hosts fight back? We will find out. Join us on Day 2 for the coverage. STUMPS IT IS THEN! A cracking day for South Africa! They are in a fine position in this game. All thanks to two men, Tony de Zorzi and Tristan Stubbs. After a decent opening stand, Mariam fell but then came the marathon partnership. The two added over 200 and both scored tons. Stubbs fell shortly after getting to his ton but Tony is closing in on a 150. David Bedingham has began solidly and he'll be looking to cash in on this surface. South Africa are on course for a big first innings score and that's what they'll be wanting to do.

The Bangladesh bowlers have had to toil hard! There's not a lot in the surface for them and all they can do for now is stay patient. They though would love to stem the run flow a little. Hasan Mahmud looked good with the ball in the hand. He got the ball to swing both ways but South Africa negotiated him well. Taijul Islam and Mehidy Hasan got the odd balls to turn but apart from that there was not much for the hosts. Bangladesh certainly knows they have to work hard on this pitch for breakthroughs. At one stage, Bangladesh were 8 down for below 50 and had it not been for Mominul, they would not have crossed the 100-run mark.
