Adds they would definitely face games like that again in the future but they have to stay together. Informs about the changes, Marco Jansen and Tabraiz Shamsi have been rested. Reckons dew has been a big factor and hopes the ball skids on under the lights.

Hashmatullah Shahidi says they will bat first as the surface might help the spinners later on. Informs they are unchanged. Adds the last match was a tough one but they have to move forward and think about this match.

Afghanistan, on the other hand, were flying high this season with the aim for top four but the demolishing loss against Australia wasn't just morale drowning but also have put their chances close to impossible. We are into the final week of the group-stage and the top four have almost been decided. Hello and welcome to the clash between South Africa vs Afghanistan. A place in the semi-finals is permanent for the Proteas who have been one of the best teams in this year's tournament. It was just a small bump against India as they were beaten quite comprehensively but South Africa will hope to finish the round robin on a high.

We are almost at the tail end of the league stages of the 2023 Cricket World Cup. Match 42 will see Afghanistan going up against South Africa at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. This is a very important match to ensure the 4th spot on the points table. Afghanistan has had its best campaign in a World Cup. They unfortunately missed out on a win in their last game courtesy of a heroic knock by Glenn Maxwell. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran look good at the top of the order, giving strong starts. Zadran also became the first centurion for Afghanistan in World Cups after he scored 129 against the Aussies. Their skipper, Hashmatullah Shahidi is leading by example handling the middle order well and stabilizing the innings allowing Azmatullah Omarzai and Rashid Khan to end the innings strongly. The batting lineup for Afghanistan has improved a lot over these 8 matches they played. In their last game, the bowlers were fantastic in the opening stages with Naveen-ul-Haq, Azmatullah Omarzai, and Rashid Khan taking 2 wickets each but after that, they failed to keep the wickets coming and unfortunately lost the game. Naveen-ul-Haq looks very strong with the new ball and is certainly a threat to the batters. The spinners, Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmad, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman are also among the wickets throughout the World Cup. This match will be very important for Afghanistan and they will have to beat the Proteas by a good margin to have a chance of qualifying for the semi-finals. South Africa on the other hand has had an amazing campaign with all their players performing well. They have established themselves as a dangerous side when they're batting first but struggle a bit during chasing. Unfortunately, they are coming into this match after a very embarrassing defeat against India where they were bowled out for 83 runs. Throughout their campaign, their batting order has been their strength. Quinton de Kock is fantastic at the top and has scored a few centuries along with Rassie van der Dussen who has also been in great form. David Miller, Aiden Markram, and Heinrich Klaasen are the powerhouses and have given very explosive ends to their side. Their bowling has also managed to defend their scores with Marco Jansen blowing strongly with the new ball. Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi have also shown their skill in these spinning conditions by taking timely wickets. Kagiso Rabada and Gerald Coetzee also look in good rhythm and are hitting the right line and length which troubles the opposition. This is the last match for both teams in the league stages. South Africa will look to win this match and boost their morale after their last game while Afghanistan has a lot riding on this match.
