The World Cup keeps on delivering. That is it from this game. The action continues from the World Cup as we head to MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on the 18th of this month as New Zealand will take on Afghanistan at 2 pm IST (8.30 am GMT). Do join us for the build-up. Cheers.

Scott Edwards wins the Player of the Match award. Says they were losing too many wickets in the last couple of matches. He says he just wanted someone to stay around him in the end to put in some crucial runs. Adds it was easy to bat with Aryan Dutt and Roelof van der Merwe, they played some brilliant shots. Reckons he is happy to play his part. They came into this tournament with a chance to play semi-finals and to beat South Africa is a great feeling. Says he is extremely proud of the performance. Tells they do some research and analyses, and it came out well for them today. Ends by thanking the support from their home.

Temba Bavuma says they could have restricted Netherlands under a low total but dropped the ball. Adds they didn't build any stand and lost too many wickets. Credits Netherlands for the way they bowled. Reckons they were clinical against Australia but failed to replicate the same here. Shares their fielding wasn't the best as well and will have conversations and answer some tough questions. Mentions this loss will hurt but they want to get back to the journey with their heads held up. Tells Netherlands prepared well and hopes they play more good cricket.

...Presentation coming up...

There were some poor shot selection from South Africa. They underrated this Dutch bowling and took things lightly which turned out to be a bad decision. South Africa were 44 for 4, Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller did give some hope by steading the ship but once Heinrich Klaasen got out, the pressure was all on David Miller who felt vulnerable on this pitch and his wicket almost put the game in the bed. Netherlands played as a unit, they were outstanding in the field and were more eager for the win than South Africa.

The turning point of this game was when Scott Edwards walked out to bat. Netherlands were all set to finish under 200 but the skipper had other ideas and better determination than everyone. Scott Edwards and the Dutch tail wag to add around 100 runs in the final 10 overs to put up a competitive score. That just gave the momentum to Netherlands who then turned up with the ball. Spin to win as we saw, Netherlands kept things slow, made the most of the pitch and once Quinton de Kock got out, the floodgates opened. Logan van Beek was just brilliant. The others too did their job dearly.

Job done by Netherlands. They have created history and made the most dangerous batting line-up of this World Cup look like freshers against the Dutch quality bowling. This World Cup has witnessed another upset. Netherlands have surprised everyone this time.

Commentary

We are all set. The players are out in the middle. Aryan Dutt to bowl and Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma to open for the Proteas. Let's play...

...The Chase...

The bowling was excellent, to begin with by South Africa, the pacers were brilliant. They got early wickets but they'll be disappointed with their effort towards the end as they leaked far too many runs. The wicket is flat though and they would expect themselves to chase this down. Netherlands, on the other hand, will hope to take a few early wickets. Chase in a bit.

That is a very strong comeback from the Dutch and they have got to a total which can be considered competitive. They were in big trouble at one stage when they lost 5 for not a lot but Edwards played really well. He along with the lower order has taken his side to a good total. Credit to Aryan Dutt and Roelof van der Merwe too who played a handy cameo at the end.

Takes one to end a very good over for the Dutch. Around off, this is guided down to third man for one.

FOUR! AND AGAIN! Max O'Dowd has begun well. Slightly fuller again and around off, Max leans into it and strokes it through covers. Two in a row. Do not offer width to this guy. He loves it.

Gets it right this time, fuller and on off, this is pushed to mid off. We have seen Max fall to the deliveries coming back in. He needs to be careful against the left armer.

1.11wd

WIDE! Another wide as this one is also down the leg side.

1.11wd

A false start from Jansen who is bowling from the other end. He starts off with one down the leg side. Encouraging signs as there is some swing. Wided.

A maiden to begin with! Good stuff! Back of a length, a little bit of extra bounce. Defended.

0.50

Five dots in a row! Angled into the pads, Singh looks to flick but misses to get hit on the pads. Half an appeal, there might be an inside edge.

0.40

Tidy from Ngidi so far! Good length again and on off, defended solidly.

0.30

A shade outside the off pole, Singh watches it go to the keeper.

0.20

A little too straight this time, this is clipped but to mid-wicket.

0.10

Starts off with a length ball around off, no movement on the first one. Kept out.

Time for the action to begin. We are done with the anthems. South Africa make their way out to the middle and they are followed by the Dutch openers, Max O'Dowd and Vikramjit Singh. Lungi Ngidi to begin. Two slips in place. We do expect him to get some movement.

We have some positive news, we have a start time yet again, we though have lost 7 overs, so it is going to be a 43-overs-per-side game which will begin at 1600 IST. HOPEFULLY THIS TIME THE RAIN STAYS AWAY!

Update 1519 IST - The rain has stopped and it has gotten brighter again. Let's us hope it stays away and we get some action.

Well, the rain has returned the moment we were about to begin. The covers are back on. The wait continues. The rain is coming down harder now. It's also gotten really dark too.

NETHERLANDS (PLAYING XI) - Vikramjit Singh, Max ODowd, Colin Ackermann, Bas de Leede, Teja Nidamanuru, Scott Edwards (WK/C), Sybrand Engelbrecht, Roelof van der Merwe, Logan van Beek, Aryan Dutt, Paul van Meekeren.

SOUTH AFRICA (PLAYING XI) - Quinton de Kock (WK), Temba Bavuma (C), Rassie van der Dussen, Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, Marco Jansen, Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj, Lungi Ngidi, Gerald Coetzee.

Scott Edwards says they would have bowled first too. It is about sticking to the basics and informs they have one change.

Temba Bavuma says it might swing, it's a small ground and it will be tough to defend. Adds they need to be clinical and he hopes for another win.

Toss - SOUTH AFRICA HAVE WON THE TOSS AND ELECTED TO BOWL!

Still gloomy out there but the toss is set to take place at 1430 IST with play to begin at 1500 IST.

It seems to be getting slightly brighter and the drizzle is a very light one. A few players are seen warming up but the covers are firmly in place for now.

Well, the good news did not last for long as the rain is back and the covers are dragged on. The wait continues.

UPDATE 1346 IST (0806 GMT) - WE HAVE A TIME! The toss will take place at 1400 IST and game is set to begin at 1430 IST.

The rain seems to have stopped and the groundsmen are seen doing their job.

Update 1323 IST (0753 GMT) - We have better news for you! THE COVERS ARE COMING OFF! However, the main pitch is still under cover and the TOSS HAS BEEN DELAYED!

We don't have the best of news to begin with. The pitch is under cover and there is a slight drizzle. The forecast isn't that bad so let us hope it clears away quickly and we get underway.

The World Cup is moving ahead at a rapid pace and we are now into game 15. It is a clash between South Africa and Netherlands. Quite obvious who are the favourites here. South Africa have been in terrific form and should beat Netherlands who have been beaten quite easily in the tournament so far. However, in the last T20I World Cup, it was the Netherlands who beat South Africa to knock them out. Can they get another win over the Proteas? We will find out.

... MATCH DAY ...

Match number 15 of the 2023 Cricket World Cup is upon us and it will be South Africa going up against Netherlands in Dharamsala in what will be an interesting clash. The Proteas are flying high with two wins from two and they have demolished the likes of Sri Lanka and Australia already. The batting has been firing on all fronts with Quinton de Kock leading the way with two tons to start his campaign. The middle order is solid as well with Aiden Markram looking at his best and the likes of Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller in a punishing mood. The only concern is that of their skipper Temba Bavuma who has had a stellar 2023 but hasn't got going in the mega event. On the bowling front, Lungi Ngidi and Marco Jansen have been able to make the ball talk with Kagiso Rabada coming in and picking up wickets at the right time. Keshav Maharaj has shown excellent control in both matches and they have the option of playing an extra spinner in the form of Tabraiz Shamsi or choosing from a more than decent line-up of pacers on the bench. South Africa will be out for revenge given their T20 World Cup campaign in 2022 was spoiled by a heroic Dutch performance and this time, the Proteas will look to show no mercy. The Netherlands have lost both of their opening games but there have been a few positives for them in both those games. They have bowled well in patches with Aryan Dutt and Bas de Leede doing really well and the latter has been amongst the runs as well. Their openers do need to show better application and in the middle order, someone has to stay in for a big knock instead of getting 20s or 30s and then getting out. Skipper Scott Edwards needs to step up with the bat as well. If Logan van Beek does return to the side, it will certainly bolster them and with a fairly extended break after the two losses, the Dutch players can start fresh but it will be a tall order for them to get a win. That said, the win for Afghanistan against England would have certainly given them hope that nothing is impossible. Is there another upset brewing? Or will South Africa continue on their merry way?
