Commentary

That is it from this game. A lot of changes in the points table but we will shift our focus to the next game. On the 13th of this month, Punjab will take on Rajasthan. Join us at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT) and earlier for the build up. Cheers!

Rishabh Pant, the winning skipper of Delhi says that he is relieved to win this game and says that they will always fight hard. Mentions that there have been phases when they aren't upto the mark and the players will have to take up responsibility themselves. Says that injuries are a big trouble but are working on their playing 11.

Kuldeep Yadav wins the Player of the Match award. He says he wasn't fit and was difficult to see the team struggling but credits the staff for helping him get ready for this game. Adds all the wickets were special. Reckons he is clear with his plan, he executed and was confident. Tells with DRS there is always a chance for the wicket!

...Presentation next...

Jake Fraser-McGurk is up for a chat. He says that he felt good to get his first game in the league. Adds that he focused on finding the connection in the middle of the bat and didn't try to overhit them. Mentions that he will continue to get used to batting out of the powerplay and will come with experience. Says that he is happy to be here and the atmosphere is amazing adds that the experience is surreal during the league.

KL Rahul, the captain of Lucknow says that he thinks they were 15-20 runs short after getting a good start and wanted to reach the 180-run mark. Felt that the spinners got help from the pitch and Kuldeep's wickets put brakes on their batting. Mentions that the new guys play really well and credits Jake Fraser-McGurk for batting brilliantly. Adds that the mindset was set to give their best and wanted to take timely wickets. Feels that they were in the game till the halfway mark and then Pant and Jake took the game away from them. Says that they will enjoy themselves during this hectic schedule. Adds that Pooran was sent in early to take advantage of his form against spin. The plan was to create pressure on the opponents and appreciated Kuldeep for getting his wicket. On Mayank Yadav, he says that he is getting better but doesn't want to rush him to play games before the right time.

Credit to Delhi and their bowlers. Kuldeep Yadav is in superb form and continued today as well. His spell was a game-changer. His three wickets of Rahul, Stoinis and Pooran completely shifted the momentum of the game. Delhi gave away a few runs in the back end but the batters did the job eventually. Crucial two points for Delhi.

Lucknow were short of runs. Ravi Bishnoi was the only bowler who tried to do some damage but the others leaked a lot of runs. Lucknow were 100 for 7 at one point. At one point even 120 on the board looked difficult but Ayush Badoni and Arshad Khan added around 73 runs to get Lucknow to a decent total. The momentum was with them but the bowlers failed to capitalize and do some damage inside the first six overs.

Two huge points for Delhi as they finally relieve themselves from the bottom place. The batters stood up for them today. It was a disappointing effort against Mumbai but today they batted well. Jake Fraser-McGurk brought a breath of fresh air for Delhi as he along with Shaw batted brilliantly inside the Powerplay. The duo added around 40 runs before Shaw fell. However, then came the match-winning partnership between Jake Fraser-McGurk and the skipper. Jake Fraser-McGurk scored a fifty on his debut and introduced himself to this league by playing some breathtaking strokes. Pant played well too on the other side. Both fell in the final phase of the innings but the job was very well done till then.

Commentary

We are back for the chase! We can see the Lucknow players in a huddle where KL Rahul is giving a last-minute pep talk. Now they spread out to take their respective field positions. Prithvi Shaw and David Warner are the two openers for Delhi.  Arshad Khan to start proceedings with the ball. Here we go...

... THE RUN CHASE ...

Delhi, on the other hand, will be a bit disappointed as they should have wrapped things up much earlier but once again their death bowling was exposed and they allowed the hosts to come back in this game. They managed to pick up seven wickets under 100 runs but one partnership and this game is back in the balance. Kuldeep Yadav was absolutely exceptional picking up three crucial wickets while Khaleel Ahmed got a couple of wickets as usual. Mukesh Kumar and Ishant Sharma chipped in with one each but once again they failed to finish on a high. Now, it is up to their destructive batting unit to take it upon themselves and chase this down to get their second win of the season. Join us in a bit for the second essay.

Ayush Badoni, the top-scorer for Lucknow says he enjoyed the knock. Adds from the last few innings it wasn't going well but is grateful to the franchise for giving him the opportunity. Shares Arshad Khan played a great supportive role and helped them get cross 160. Hope they will defend the score.

Lucknow got off to a really good start with Quinton de Kock leading the charge. However, he had to depart after a few lusty blows and Devdutt Padikkal followed suit as his struggles continued this season. KL Rahul held one end firmly and was looking good but he did not get any support from the other end. The big hitters Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran fell to the spin magic of Kuldeep Yadav while the skipper also became his third victim. From 57-3, they suffered a huge collapse and were reeling at 94/7. Ayush Badoni then took all the responsibility and stepped up when his side needed the most. He batted smartly with Arshad Khan and that record-breaking partnership took them to a respectable total. Badoni remained unbeaten on 55 of just 35 balls while Arshad Khan stayed not out on 20 off 16 balls giving their bowlers enough runs to defend here.

Lucknow finishes well here! A fantastic half-century from Ayush Badoni and equally good support from Arshad Khan have taken them over that 160-run mark. An interesting fact to note is that whenever the hosts have crossed that mark, they have defended it every time. The duo added 73 runs for the eighth wicket which is the highest in the history of the competiton.

Strategic-Break! Kuldeep Yadav has made a mess of the stumps with that wicket and it needs some repairing. Delhi have been excellent with the ball, especially Kuldeep Yadav who has sent back two of the best power-hitters on consecutive deliveries. They will look to build on this and restrict their opponents to as low as possible. Lucknow are in a tough spot and have been forced to use the Impact Player here. Deepak Hooda replaces Quinton de Kock and walks out to face the hat-trick ball here.

Time for the action to begin. The Delhi players are in the huddle before they disperse away. Similar setting for Lucknow - KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock to open for them. Khaleel Ahmed to bowl first. Green grass on the surface so expect some swing early on. Let's go...

Rishabh Pant, the captain of Delhi says that they would have batted first as well. Adds that they are still trying to find out their best XI as some of the players have got injured. Informs they have made a couple of changes as Mukesh Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav comes back in the team.

KL Rahul, the skipper of Lucknow says they will bat first. Adds they want to start fresh, it's a new surface and will stay true throughout without dew making much impact. Shares the conditions favour the bowling side and their bowlers have enjoyed here till now. Reckons the crowd has been amazing and has been supportive throughout. Informs they have made one change. Arshad Khan replaced the injured Mayank Yadav.

Impact Players for Delhi - Jhye Richardson, Abishek Porel, Kumar Kushagra, Sumit Kumar, Pravin Dubey.

Delhi (Playing XI) - Prithvi Shaw, David Warner, Shai Hope, Rishabh Pant (C/WK), Tristan Stubbs, Axar Patel, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Kuldeep Yadav, Mukesh Kumar, Ishant Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed.

Impact Players for Lucknow - Krishnappa Gowtham, Deepak Hooda, M. Siddharth, Amit Mishra, Matt Henry.

Lucknow (Playing XI) - KL Rahul (C/WK), Quinton de Kock, Devdutt Padikkal, Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran, Ayush Badoni, Krunal Pandya, Arshad Khan (In place of Mayank Yadav), Ravi Bishnoi, Naveen-ul-Haq, Yash Thakur.

TOSS - Lucknow have won the toss and elected to BAT first.

PITCH REPORT - Graeme Swann is pitchside. He says one side of the ground is around 75 meters while the other is close to 63 meters. Sunil Gavaskar joins him and says this ground has one of the longest boundaries. Mentions that there is a lot of grass on this pitch and the spinners won't like much as the ball will come on nicely onto the bat. Shares a lot of runs could be scored on this pitch.

Delhi, on the other hand, are going through a rough patch as they have won just one game so far in this season. Their bowling has been very leaky conceding north of 200 in the last couple of matches. They will need a lot more from ace pacer Anrich Nortje with the others also needing to step up. Their batting is not that much of a concern as they have a few destructive players like Prithvi Shaw, David Warner, and Tristan Stubbs who are having a good season. Rishabh Pant has also made a fine comeback to the game and has found his rhythm while young Indian batters have also contributed well. With the injury to Marsh, there is a chance that we can see the young explosive Aussie, Jake Fraser-McGurk in the mix. However, they will need to play as a unit and do well in all three departments to get the win here. Stay tuned for toss and other updates.

Lucknow have been in fine form winning the last three games and all by defending targets which shows their formidable bowling attack. The big thing for them is that it is the Indian fast bowlers who have stepped up with Mayank Yadav making an impact with his express pace in the first couple of games while it was Yash Thakur's stunning fifer, highlight of the last game. They have an explosive batting line-up as well with the likes of Quinton de Kock, KL Rahul, Nicholas Pooran, and Marcus Stoinis and all of them are in good touch. They will not look to change much and replicate their performance to get their fourth win in the trot.

Hello and a warm welcome folks! The Indian T20 League is certainly living up to its expectations as we have seen some of best nail-biting encounters. The focus now shifts to the clash between two exciting teams, Lucknow and Delhi with the former trying to extend their winning run while the latter hoping to get back to winning ways.

... MATCH DAY ...

The Indian T20 League 2024 is in full swing, and we're gearing up for another exciting match as Lucknow takes on Delhi at the picturesque Ekana Cricket Stadium. Lucknow comes into the game riding high on confidence after a convincing win, powered by Yash Thakur's brilliant five-wicket haul. Their recent form has been impressive, securing three consecutive wins while defending targets, showcasing their bowling strength. However, the absence of Mayank Yadav is a concern as he took the league by storm with his express pace, but they have capable replacements. With Naveen-ul-Haq in excellent form and Mohsin Khan possibly returning, their bowling attack looks formidable along with two very economical spin options in Krunal Pandya and Ravi Bishnoi. Their batting lineup boasts firepower with Quinton de Kock, KL Rahul, Nicholas Pooran, and Marcus Stoinis all in good touch. Lucknow appears well-balanced and aims to extend their winning streak to four matches. On the flip side, Delhi has struggled, managing just one win in five games. Their bowling has been leaky, conceding over 220 runs in their last two outings. While Anrich Nortje has been taking wickets, he's been expensive, and the absence of Marsh due to injury further weakens their team. Axar Patel has been economical, but Delhi needs more from their bowlers with Ishant Sharma and Khaleel Ahmed doing well with the new ball but not at the death. In contrast, their batting lineup, featuring aggressive openers like David Warner and Prithvi Shaw, along with Abishek Porel, Rishabh Pant, and Tristan Stubbs, possesses immense firepower. However, for Delhi to turn their fortunes around, their bowlers need to step up. Will Delhi halt Lucknow's winning streak, or will Lucknow continue their dominance?
