Right then, that is it from this exciting encounter where Bengaluru keeps their slim hopes alive while Gujarat also find themselves in the same situation. Next up in the Indian T20 League is a double-header on 5th May, Sunday. First, it will be Punjab taking on Chennai at 3.30 pm IST (10 am GMT). Then Lucknow host Kolkata at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT), but as you know, you can always join us early for all the build-up to both games. Until then, cheers and goodbye!

Mohammed Siraj is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his outstanding spell. He says that he was not feeling well and thought he wouldn't play in this game. Adds that his hardwork has paid off with the new ball but he was thinking of taking a rest in this game. Mentions that he dreamt about getting Saha out caught behind and exactly that happened. Ends by saying that he has played a lot of Tests and it is tough to adjust to this format right away but he is getting his rhythm back.

Faf du Plessis, the victorious skipper of Bengaluru says they have been aggressive in the last few games and taken the aggressive approach on the field. Says the bowling and fielding was awesome and he is proud of the players. Mentions the pitch was different in this game.

Shubman Gill, the captain of Gujarat says that 170-180 on this wicket would have been a good total and the way they bowled in the powerplay has costed them the game. Adds losing 3 wickets in the Powerplay compelled them to put Shankar in the mix and that costed them a pacer later in the game. Mentions it's important for them to start from zero and move on from this gameas as they keep learning from every game and hope to not repeat the same mistakes again. Says that from here on it is all about winning every game for them.

Presentation Time...

Dinesh Karthik is up for a quick chat. He says he didn't feel he would bat but that's how the game goes on. Adds that this was a very different sort of pressure as there was a lot of time and playing sensibly was the need of the hour and he backed himself to do that. Mentions that the pitch was good to bowl on initially and the rain yesterday helped the bowlers early on and it was a good toss to win. Credits the bowlers for a brilliant bowling performance. Says that credit to Virat and Faf for the way they batted and there were some brilliant strokes by both of them early on. Closes by saying that he just asked Swapnil Singh to play the ball on its merit and if it feels that sweep is the correct option against Noor then be it and he nailed those sweeps to perfection.

Earlier in the game, Gujarat posted a below-par total courtesy of an important partnership of 61 runs between David Miller and Rahul Tewatia. Vijay Shankar and Rashid Khan added a few crucial runs at the end as well. Bengaluru were excellent with the ball with Mohammed Siraj, Yash Dayal, and Vijaykumar Vyshak all getting a couple of wickets each while Cameron Green and Karn Sharma chipped in with one each. While chasing, Faf du Plessis scored a fiery fifty while Virat Kohli supported him well, but they suffered a big collapse in the middle. However, DK emerged as their saviour in this game.

Gujarat, on the other hand shower great character and belief to make a match out of this. Their bowlers were smacked around in the Powerplay but Joshua Little did manage to get rid of the opposition skipper at last. After that, they came roaring back in the game. Little was absolutely brilliant and got big wickets of Rajat Patidar, Cameron Green, and Glenn Maxwell in quick succession. Noor Ahmad was excellent as well dismissing Will Jacks and also got rid of the set Virat Kohli to make things interesting. However, they decided to give the ball to injured Rashid Khan who gave away 16 runs that changed the momentum once again and proved to be the turning point.

Bengaluru got off to an absolute flier with Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli hitting it to all corners of the park. Skipper was the aggressor and spared no one registering the second-fastest fifty for the franchise. Kohli was playing second fiddle but did attack as well. Unfortunately skipper was dismissed but they registered their highest Powerplay score at this ground as they ended up with 92. However, after they something really extraordinary happened as they went from 92/1 to 111/5 to put themselves under pressure. Kohli held on end losing partners at the other. Dinesh Karthik came in to support him and just when it looked under control, Kohli nicked one behind. However, DK kept his calm and targeted Rashid Khan to get things back under control. Swapnil Singh also played a couple of fine shots as both of them took their team over the line.

BENGALURU WITH THE DOUBLE OVER GUJARAT! It looked like a cakewalk the way they started this chase but they made it hard for themselves in the middle. However, once again it is that man DK who got them out of trouble with good support from Swapnil Singh. Gujarat gave a real scare to the home side but they just did not have enough runs on the board and now find themselves in a really tough spot in context of the playoffs.

Commentary

We are back with the chase. The umpires are out in the middle followed by the players of Gujarat. Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis walk out as the openers for Bengaluru while Mohit Sharma will bowl the first over for Gujarat. Darshan Nalkande comes in as a substitute fielder for Rashid Khan who has not taken the field. Rashid Khan was hit by a short-pitched delivery from Cameron Green earlier.

... The Run Chase ...

The bowling from Bengaluru was brilliant, to say the least. The side came up with a plan and they executed that to perfection. Bengaluru bowlers were lethal with their short-pitched ploy to the Gujarat batters and the pitch assisted them perfectly. Yash Dayal was the pick of the bowlers as he took a couple and gave away just 21. Mohammed Siraj too took a couple. Cameron Green, Vijaykumar Vyshak and Karn Sharma took one each. The pitch has a bit of bite to it and this will assist the pacers. The chase might not be as easy as it looks. Stay tuned as we will be back with the chase in a while.

Vijaykumar Vyshak is up for a quick chat. He says that he is happy because the team did well. Adds that Siraj and Dayal gave them the perfect start and it was great to restrict them to under 150. Mentions that they stuck to their plan of banging it in the surface and it was a bit two-paced. Says that he is working hard with the fielding coach and his hands are a bit swollen but he will be fine. Ends by saying that they are confident of chasing this down.

After being put in to bat first Gujarat were off to a poor start as they were pinned back to the wall by the bowlers of Bengaluru from the get-go. Gujarat scored just 23 in the powerplay and lost their top three batters. The batters were not given any loose deliveries to hammer and tonk and were treated to some hostile bowling. David Miller along with Shahrukh Khan knitted a partnership of 61 in just 37 deliveries for the fourth wicket and brought some life into the Gujarat innings but just when it looked like Gujarat was back in it both David Miller and Shahrukh Khan departed in quick succession. Rahul Tewatia along with Rashid Khan then scored 44 off 29 for the 6th wicket partnership. Shahrukh Khan, David Miller and Rahul Tewatia got out in their 30's while Rashid Khan and Vijay Shankar managed to score 18 and 10 respectively.

19.3W

OUT! TAKEN! Team hat-trick for Bengaluru! Vijaykumar Vyshak bowls another slowy, fuller and around off, Vijay Shankar uses his feet and tries to slog it away but gets an outside edge straight up in the air, Mohammed Siraj at short third man backtracks, fumbles a couple of times but pouches it in the end. Gujarat have been bowled out for 147!

A lethal bowling performance from Bengaluru backed up by a sensational performance in the field as a unit has bowled out Gujarat to 147 after 19.2 overs.

19.2W

OUT! RUN OUT! Mohit Sharma sacrifices his wicket here! Back of a length and around off, Mohit Sharma tries to push it away but misses, Vijay Shankar sets off to steal a by but Mohit is late to react, DK has a shy at the stumps but misses, Vijaykumar Vyshak collects it, and breaks the stumps with batter nowhere near the crease. Gujarat nine down now!

Mohit Sharma comes out to bat last in the middle.

19.1W

OUT! TAKEN! Another one bites the dust! Vijaykumar Vyshak rolls his fingers and takes pace off, back of a length and outside of, Manav Suthar waits for it and slaps it hard but unfortunately picks out the only fielder there at deep point where Swapnil Singh pouches it safely. Gujarat eight down now!

OUT! BOWLED'EM! Yash Dayal gets a wicket now!

Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill are the two openers for Gujarat. We will see some spin straightaway as Swapnil Singh has the new ball in his hand. Let's play..

Matthew Hayden joins him and says it looks really good for batting. Says that the the batters can trust this surface but there won't be much grip for the spinners here.

The skipper of Gujarat Shubman Gill says they are aiming to win the rest of the game and they have done that in the past and it's nothing new for them. Adds apart from their bowling attack their batting has been at par but fielding has costed them a bit. Says they have just not been able to win those crucial key moments and that has cost them some games this tournament. Mentions that every game is a new game and the result of the previous game doesn't matter. Says that apart from the over rate everything has been good for him as the skipper of Gujarat. Gujarat too haven't had a good season this year. The finalists of last year find themselves 3rd last on the table with just 8 points in the bag. They will want to avenge their loss against Bengaluru by beating them at their home. However, they are on a run of losses and immense pressure will be on the battin department. In the last game, Sai Sudharsan, Shahrukh Khan, and David Miller bailed them out but the bowlers couldn't defend the target. Sai Kishore was the lone wicket taker while the others were being hit for a lot of runs. This ground is also called the batting paradise so the batting unit will need to pull up their socks. It is expected to be a thrilling encounter where both teams will aim to rise up the ranks towards the upper half of the table. Stay tuned for toss and team news.

Bengaluru is currently placed last on the points table with very little chances of making it to the playoffs. They have had a poor run this year winning only 3 out of their 10 matches. They are on the back of consecutive wins. Their bowlers haven't yet found proper consistency but they are capable of troubling the opposition batters. Their batting unit has kept up their reputation with Virat Kohli still going strong. Will Jacks, the newest centurion for them will also play a crucial role in their batting order along with the explosive batting of Faf du Plessis.

The Indian T20 League is in full swing. We welcome you to the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru which has become one of the most batting friendly tracks in India. It is time for match 52 where Bengaluru host Gujarat in what will be a do or die match for the Men in Red.

... MATCH DAY ...

As we move further into the group stage, we're seeing matchups where one team holds a big mental edge after a strong win in their last meeting. This game is a prime example, with Bengaluru securing a convincing win over Gujarat by chasing down 200 runs in just 16 overs. They're riding high on confidence and looking to repeat that success. Virat Kohli's outstanding form, leading the run charts this season, boosts their spirits, while Will Jacks' explosive century in the previous game adds to their strength. Skipper Faf du Plessis aims to step up, with Rajat Patidar, Dinesh Karthik, and Cameron Green providing stability in the middle order. However, Bengaluru's bowling remains a concern, especially with Mohammed Siraj's struggles and inconsistency among their foreign pacers. They missed Karn Sharma's spin expertise in a few games but he is back now and they hope players like Swapnil Singh and Lockie Ferguson can deliver. Gujarat, too, faces a crucial moment, unable to afford another loss. With captain Shubman Gill yet to find his rhythm, Sai Sudharsan holds the key in the batting lineup. Shahrukh Khan's recent fifty is a boost, supported by David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, and the dynamic Rashid Khan. Although their bowling showed promise initially, recent performances have been shaky. Mohit Sharma remains a threat, while Sandeep Warrier adds depth to the pace attack. The spin duo of Rashid and Noor Ahmad, along with Sai Kishore, offer stability. Determined to learn from past mistakes, Gujarat aims to turn the tables with a fresh approach. With both teams facing a must-win situation, anticipation is high for an exciting contest. Whose side are you rooting for in this crucial showdown?
