Right then, that's a wrap for another exciting and crucial game in the Indian T20 League as Hyderabad secures a vital victory over Rajasthan, handing them their second defeat of the season and making it to the top 4 on the points table. Now, all eyes turn to the next showdown, as Mumbai prepares to host Kolkata at the iconic Wankhade Stadium. The much-anticipated clash is scheduled for Friday, the 3rd of May, kicking off at 7.30 pm IST (2.00 pm GMT). But the excitement starts long before the first ball is bowled, with all the pre-match coverage. So, make sure to tune in early to catch all the action! Until then, it's time to bid farewell with cheers!

Bhuvneshwar Kumar is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his outstanding spell of 3 for 41. He says he wasn't thinking about anything and just wanted to execute the balls well in the final over. Adds that he was just focused on the over and wasn't thinking of the one fielder who was short outside the circle and was completely detached. Concludes that when the ball swings, he gets the best of it and luckily for him, he got three crucial wickets.

Pat Cummins, the skipper of Hyderabad says that it was an amazing game and weren't sure of the win until the final ball. Adds that in T20 cricket you get used to batters getting you over the line and that last over from Bhuvi was special. Mentions that they tried to take a few wickets in the middle overs and brought Natarajan in to bowl a few yorkers. Reckons that you can't give class players chances with those dropped catches and gives credit to Nitish Kumar Reddy for being a value player as he can hit those sixes and can give them a couple of handy overs with the ball as well.

Its time for the Presentation Ceremony...

Travis Head is down for a quick chat. He says it's a pretty good win that they did not expect in the end but appreciates the team. Adds that they knew it would be challenging but the way Heinrich Klaasen gave them that extra boost was great. Mentions that it was a great score and in T20 cricket it more often than not comes down to the wire. Concludes that the crowd was great and it was nice to put up a show and they have a couple more games and hope to continue.

Sanju Samson, the captain of Rajasthan says that they have played a few close games this season and have been on the winning side but credit should go to the opposition as they managed to keep the scoring rate at exactly 10 runs an over till the very final over. Adds that they have some quality finishers but couldn't get the win and reckons that early on it was tough to bat against the new ball and their bowlers bowled well. Gives credit to Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag for playing so well as he and Jos Buttler got out in the first over and sometimes these things happen and you can't get over the line.

Earlier in the game, the Rajasthan bowlers, led by the ever-reliable Trent Boult, launched a formidable assault, well-supported by Ashwin, successfully stifling the explosive Hyderabad openers and asserting dominance. Their disciplined efforts bore fruit as Rajasthan snatched a couple of crucial wickets, tipping the scales in their favour early on. However, as the game progressed into the middle overs, Rajasthan encountered a lapse in momentum, allowing Travis Head and Nitish Kumar Reddy to seize control with a commanding 96-run partnership orchestrating a remarkable turnaround in favour of Hyderabad. Despite the bowlers' attempts to contain the onslaught, Heinrich Klaasen's blistering knock of 42 off just 19 deliveries, coupled with Nitish Kumar Reddy's unbeaten 76 off 42 balls, propelled Hyderabad beyond the 200-run mark for the fifth time this season setting a target of 202 runs. While Sandeep Sharma emerged as the most economical bowler, claiming a crucial wicket, Avesh Khan contributed with two dismissals for his side.

Hyderabad embarked on a dream start with Bhuvneshwar Kumar dealing two significant blows in the very first over, setting the tone for an electrifying contest. However, despite their early success, Hyderabad encountered a few hiccups in the field, with missed catching opportunities proving to be costly. As momentum shifted, the bowlers allowed the opposition to regroup and establish a formidable partnership, reigniting the pressure on Hyderabad. Yet, displaying resilience, the bowlers managed to disrupt the partnership and tighten their lines, securing crucial wickets that swung the game back in their favour, much to the delight of the roaring crowd. In a nail-biting climax, it was the remarkable efforts of Pat Cummins and Bhuvneshwar Kumar who delivered under immense pressure, defending a mere 20 runs in the final two overs. Their spirited performance not only secured a thrilling victory propelling Hyderabad to the fourth position on the points table but also brought an end to their losing streak, showcasing their determination and fighting spirit till the very end.

What an incredible turnaround! Hyderabad have snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, handing the table-toppers their second loss of the tournament. Just when Rajasthan had the game in their bag, the loss of quick wickets towards the end turned things around completely over the head resulting in a loss. After enduring a challenging start with the early departures of Jos Buttler and skipper, Sanju Samson in the very first over, Rajasthan found themselves under immense pressure. However, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag displayed remarkable composure, opting for a counterattacking approach to stabilize the innings. Their resilience was evident as they navigated the early storm, guiding the team to a promising 60/2 at the conclusion of the Powerplay, laying a solid foundation for the chase ahead. The duo continued to excel, forging an impressive partnership of 134 runs, with both batters reaching well-deserved half-centuries before their dismissals within a span of 3 overs. Despite their departures, they had already laid a substantial groundwork for the chase which then went downside as the team lost wickets in a flurry and just had too much to chase in the end losing it by the barest of margin.

OUT! LBW! Would you believe it? One of the most memorable finishes to a game this season and Hyderabad have won it by the barest of margins. Bhuvneshwar Kumar goes for the in-dipping yorker but misses his mark and serves a full toss instead. The ball does reverse into the right-hander a bit and Rovman Powell plays all around it, getting hit flush on the pads. It looks straight enough and the finger goes up. It is reviewed but there's nothing on UltraEdge and Ball Tracking comes up with three reds. Hyderabad win an absolute humdinger by 1 run!

Is that out? The umpire gives it out LBW and Rovman Powell sends it upstairs for a review. The UltraEdge confirms there was no bat involved and the BallTracking shows all reed. The on-field call stays and Rovman Powell is OUT!

Rajasthan now need 2 runs off 1 ball. Fancy a super over?

19.52

NOT OUT! That is some dive put in by Rovman Powell! Very full on leg stump, Powell clips it firmly through square leg and has to go for two runs again. Shahbaz Ahmed fires in a quick throw at the keeper's end and Heinrich Klaasen whips off the bails. The replays show that Powell did make it in time and he dived so hard that his helmet fell off on impact. 2 needed off the final delivery!

Is that run-out? Rovman Powell throws in a full stretched dive and makes it home! What an effort!

19.42

A better throw and that would have been gone and once again the throw is at the wrong end. Very full, right at the base of off stump, Rovman Powell drills it wide of long off where Abdul Samad gets to the ball and chooses to go to the far keeper's end but it is well wide and the batters get two more.

19.34

FOUR! Calmly done and the one-less boundary rider is making a difference. Pitched up around off, Rovman Powell gets inside the line and just laps it down to fine leg for a boundary. 6 needed now off 3 balls.

19.22

Gets the perfect yorker in on middle and leg stump, Rovman Powell jams it out to wide long on and races back for two runs. Marco Jansen throws it to the keeper's end but he should have thrown it to the bowler's end as Ravichandran Ashwin was struggling.

19.11

Full and straight at the stumps, Ravichandran Ashwin plays it away wide of long on for a single.

With 13 runs to defend, it will be Bhuvneshwar Kumar who will bowl the final over. Can he defend this one? Also, Hyderabad are behind the overrate and will have one extra man inside the circle, so, one less fielder on the boundary which could be telling.

SIX! Rovman Powell could have just won the game for his side with that blow. Pat Cummins goes full and wide outside off but misses the yorker, Powell keeps his shape and just throws his hands at it. The ball is lifted high and over the cover fence for a maximum. 13 needed now off the final over.

18.50

Another slower bumper and another dot ball, what is happening out there? dug into the pitch over off stump and angling back in, Rovman Powell looks to pull but misses and doesn't even challenge the call. The replays show that it was perfect, right around the helmet height.

18.40

Top bowling! Follows up the slower bumper with a wide yorker at pace and nails it to the tee. Rovman Powell tries to drive it through covers but is well beaten.

18.30

A slower bumper outside the off stump, gets the height right as we have seen so many tonight going over the head. Rovman Powell swings across the line but misses.

18.21

Pitched up at the stumps, Ravichandran Ashwin stays compact and does the right thing by just pushing the ball down to long on and rotating the strike.

Ravichandran Ashwin walks out to bat next for Rajasthan.

18.1W

OUT! TAKEN! What composure from Abhishek Sharma in the deep and Rajasthan are giving it away here. Pat Cummins goes full and at the legs, serves a low half-volley instead. Dhruv Jurel looks to get inside the line and flicks it away aerially towards deep square leg where Sharma runs to his left and almost overruns the ball before keeping his shape and grabbing it with both hands to his weaker right side. Another one bites the dust and even Cummins has a smile at it.

It will be the skipper, Pat Cummins to bowl the penultimate over. Rajasthan now need 20 runs off the last 2 overs.

Just a single to end a fine over by T Natarajan and now 20 runs are required off 12 balls. Fuller in length and angled into the legs, Jurel chips it away wide of long on and picks up a run.

17.50

Slower one, dug in short and outside off, Dhruv Jurel looks to run it away past short third but under-edges it back behind the crease.

Dhruv Jurel walks out to bat at number 7 for Rajasthan with the side needing 21 runs off 14 balls.

Commentary

We are back for the chase! The umpires are back out in the middle and so are the players of Hyderabad who take their places on the field. Jos Buttler comes in as the Impact Sub replacing Yuzvendra Chahal and he will open the innings for Rajasthan alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal. Hyderabad also use their Impact Sub by bringing on Jaydev Unadkat for Anmolpreet Singh and we are hearing that Dhruv Jurel has picked up a hamstring injury and might not come out to bat which is a blow for the visitors. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has the new ball and is raring to go. Let's play...

... The Run Chase ...

Well then, 202 to get for Rajasthan for their 9th win of the season and keep their pristine chasing record intact. The pitch looks good too but it will depend on how it plays in the second half of the game. Hyderabad haven't been at their best with the ball this season but do have momentum with them and will be eager to get back to winning ways. Don't go anywhere as the exciting chase is up next.

Nitish Kumar Reddy, the star of the show for Hyderabad with the bat is down for a chat. He says that he was backing himself from the first ball and it all panned out pretty well with Heinrich Klaasen finishing off strong. Adds that the plan was to just focus on the ball and not on the bowler. Mentions that he stuck to the plan and it all went well. Talks about batting alongside Travis Head and with the left-right combination things get difficult for the bowlers and Klaasen with those big shots made it look easier. Concludes that the wicket is playing well for the spinner and slower bowls and they will look to make use of that.

Rajasthan will be disappointed with how the first innings panned out but will know that it is a high-scoring ground and the total is definitely chasable. It was a fine start from the likes of Trent Boult and Ravichandran Ashwin in the first four overs after which Avesh Khan and Sandeep Sharma were able to reap the rewards with a wicket each. They had the early advantage but let it slip after the first break in play and Yuzvendra Chahal was taken to the cleaners in his 300th T20 game and went wicketless for a whopping 62 runs in his 4 overs. The pace bowling was decent as Avesh finished with a couple of wickets and Sandeep Sharma was quite economical as well. However, the pacers couldn't close out the innings as well as they would have liked and now, Rajasthan have a formidable total in front of them.

An absolutely engrossing first innings where the momentum ebbed and flowed but eventually, it was the home side Hyderabad who managed to breach the 200-run mark for a fifth time this season, one which seemed unlikely when they were 48/2 in 8 overs. The under-fire Hyderabad openers were kept quiet early on and the pressure was soon telling as Abhishek Sharma got out and then Anmolpreet Singh soon followed suit, leaving the hosts in a spot of bother. Travis Head fought his way through and so did Nitish Kumar Reddy before both of them decided to go after the spinners and that's when the game turned on its head. Head got to his fifty but was still a bit patchy and got out but Nitish kept on going and finished on a brilliant unbeaten knock of 76 runs in 42 balls. The stage was set and after a few underwhelming outings, Heinrich Klaasen was back to his best with a quickfire cameo of 42 from just 19 balls which took Hyderabad to a fine total of 201 runs.

19.11

takes pace off and digs this one short and into the wicket outside off, Nitish Kumar Reddy is deceived by the lack of pace and mistimes his pull to the leg side for just a single.

The Umpire calls it a fair delivery and Nitish Kumar Reddy sends it upstairs for a check. The replays confirm that Nitish Kumar Reddy had moved towards the off side before the ball was bowled and it will be a fair delivery.

Dhruv Jurel looks to get inside the line and flicks it away aerially towards deep square leg where Sharma runs to his left and almost overruns the ball before keeping his shape and grabbing it with both hands to his weaker right side. Hetmyer is early to come forward again and Natarajan looks to for the yorker at the toes again but misses his mark and serves a full toss instead. Hetmyer goes hard at it but miscues the lofted shot badly and Marco Jansen comes in from long on to take an easy catch. Is there a late twist in the tale here?

Strategic break! Well, the table-toppers are making it look very easy at the moment that too after losing two wickets for 1 run at the start of the chase. The pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag is going at a brisk pace and they now need 70 runs off 42 deliveries which shouldn't be a big deal given some Windies power still to come. Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowls the inswinger on a hard length around off and gets the ball to nip back in sharply beating the inside edge of Sanju Samson's bat as he looks to keep it out. Bangs the length right, outside off, Jos Buttler is drawn towards it and tries to slice it through off but gets a thick outside edge straight into the hands of Marco Jansen at first slip who takes it around his face with a reverse cup. Rajasthan and Jaiswal are underway! Bhuvneshwar Kumar comes from over the wicket and hits the length right outside off, Yashasvi Jaiswal cuts it to deep backward point for a single.

OUT! TIMBER! Some will say, justice for the previous delivery and Avesh Khan has his man. Full and wide, quick as well, Avesh keeps persisting with the same line and length. Travis Head is waiting for it and goes right across to scoop it over short fine leg but ends up deflecting the ball right onto the stumps. The middle stump gets knocked out of the ground and Head walks back after a agritty knock.

14.30

NOT OUT! Oh, that was touch-and-go and the final decision has gone in the batter's favor. Fuller in length and angled well across the left-hander. Travis Head fails to reach it and is casually wandering outside his crease. The keeper, Sanju Samson shows excellent awareness and under-arms the throw onto the stumps. The third umpire is called in and it is very close but it looks like the bat was just millimeters in the air when the bails came off but the third umpire deems it was grounded and Head survives.

Is that out? A brilliant effort from Sanju Samson behind the stumps to show his presence of mind knocking down the wickets at the striker's end with Travis Head straying outside the crease after the ball went past him. The umpire sends it upstairs for a check and the replays show that the bat was grounded back just in time by Head.

There is a shy at the bowler's end but it is missed and had that hit Head would have been gone for all money. However, there is an appeal for LBW as well which is turned down and Sanju Samson does take the review as Ashwin feels he has his man. It is pad first on UltraEdge but Ball Tracking shows wickets as Umpire's call and Head survives.

Is that out? Ravichandran Ashwin has convinced the skipper, Sanju Samson to send this one upstairs for an LBW appeal originally given NOT OUT by the onfield umpire. The UltraEdge confirms that the ball was hitting the pad first and the Ball Tracking shows that the wickets were clipping the top of leg and comes up as the Umpire's call.

Trent Boult starts from over the stumps and bowls it full and wide, swinging it away, Head goes after it and plays away from the body, not in control and drives it uppishly just over point where Parag lets it through. Hyderabad are underway with a boundary!

We are ready for the action to begin! The two umpires make their way out to the middle followed by the Rajasthan squad who spread out to take the field. The explosive Hyderabad opening pair of Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head stride their way out to the centre. It will be Trent Boult who has the new ball in hand and will start the proceedings for Rajasthan. Let's play says the umpire and here we go..

Trent Boult is down for a quick chat. He says it was exciting to be named in the squad for the World Cup and says it's nice on behalf of the boys from Rajasthan who have also been selected and this is a strong Indian T20 League squad. Adds that it's a long season and the boys have been traveling around the country and have played some good cricket and he feels very lucky to be a part of this team so far. Mentions that there is no secret for taking wickets up top and this game will be an exciting one and the team looks forward to this battle against a very strong batting unit.

Sanju Samson, the captain of Rajasthan says that they also wanted to bat first but have to be happy with what they have got. Adds that they have chased well and let's see how it goes and reckons momentum is the key in such tournaments and want to keep their heads down and keep doing what they are doing best.

Pat Cummins, the skipper of Hyderabad says they will bat first. Adds that in the games they won, they had batted first and batted brilliantly and will look to do the same. Mentions that it is a good wicket and it is good to be back home.

Rajasthan on the other hand have also played 9 games but have 16 points which is generally enough for a playoff berth and with a win here they can virtually qualify for the playoffs. With just one loss, Rajasthan have looked like a proper team and their bowling line-up has been the best out of all the teams with their batting proving to be more than consistent as well. Sanju Samson has led the side brilliantly which has earned him a spot in India's T20 World Cup side next month and he will be looking to lead his side all the way this time around. Can Rajasthan keep the winning momentum going? Or will Hyderabad inflict a defeat on the table-toppers? We shall find out in due course. Toss and teams news in a bit, stay tuned!

Hyderabad have 10 points from 9 games and are in the mid-table but in recent matches, their limits have been breached and if that fiery top order doesn't fire, they do find themselves in a spot of huge bother. The bowling has improved in recent matches with the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jaydev Unadkat getting into the game a bit more. The hosts do come into this match on the back of a couple of straight losses and would want to avoid a hat-trick of defeats and get back into the top 4.

Hello and welcome to Match number 50 of the 2024 Indian T20 League where Hyderabad will go up against Rajasthan in a crucial match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. This is the first and only encounter between the two teams this season and it's expected to be an enthralling one.

... MATCH DAY ...

The Indian T20 League 2024 is gradually approaching its business end and the crucial stages of this tournament are just around the corner. This edition in particular has been quite special with the records getting toppled right, left, and center and also the way the batters have elevated the range-hitting showing no respite whatsoever to the bowlers. Now, we're on the brink of a clash between two giants yet to meet this season in Match number 50 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium of Hyderabad. At the peak sits Rajasthan, crowned with a giant leap of winning streak, and they're geared up to face Hyderabad, known for their knack of defying expectations and rewriting history by smashing records once deemed unbreakable. Let's delve into the home side, Hyderabad. This team has been setting records on fire with their explosive batting displays, even surpassing the 250 mark, but interestingly, all of these feats have occurred when they've batted first. It seems like opponents may have uncovered a chink in the armor of this orange-clad army - their vulnerability while chasing targets. In their last two matches, Hyderabad's men have proved to be vulnerable as they faced two consecutive losses when tasked with chasing down targets. The defeats came against Bengaluru and, most recently, Chennai. Plus, the two southpaw openers, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head, failing to fire during the chase, has added to the dramatic collapse. For sure, Hyderabad is a strong contender for the knockout stages, but they've got to address this vulnerability ASAP. Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen, the reliable Protea batters, need to step up and lead the charge if the top order fails to provide a solid foundation. But, these blokes just can't be taken lightly because the range-hitting ability they possess, the margin of error against them is too thin. Nitish Kumar Reddy has been a real find for Hyderabad, stepping up as a dependable all-rounder. His impactful contributions in the middle order with bat and the ability to bowl crucial spells at times as the sixth bowler have been key factors in the team's performance and so has Shahbaz Ahmad, a crucial Indian spin bowling all-rounder, who can also send a few sailing into the stands. On the bowling front, T Natarajan has been quite impressive as he has bowled to his strengths. Overall, the team despite two consecutive defeats still stands in the top 4 and just might have to correct a few errors while batting second. On the other hand, the team that has lost just a solitary game, Rajasthan is brimming with confidence as the men in pink and blue have overtaken the others by miles with sheer consistent performances. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler are like a power duo up there, and if one of them falls early, skipper Sanju Samson and Co. is there to save the day. Out of their nine games, they've chased down targets successfully six times, a stark contrast to their rivals who have struggled badly in this aspect. Rajasthan's sheer dominance with the bat has kept players like Shimron Hetmyer and Riyan Parag waiting to make a difference for the team when they get their opportunity. However, Dhruv Jurel got his chance in the previous game, and boy, did he deliver! He smashed a superb half-century, proving his worth. On the bowling front, Rajasthan's arsenal is looking sharp. Trent Boult and Sandeep Sharma have been tearing through the Powerplay overs, snatching crucial breakthroughs right off the bat. And then there's Yuzvendra Chahal, who's been a nightmare for batters in the mid-overs. Overall, Rajasthan has been the undisputed dominator of this edition so far. For Hyderabad to put a stop to their winning streak, they'll need to bring some serious game plans to the table. Who do you think will have an edge in this high-octane clash?
